Simon vs. the Homo sapiens agenda

The reason I started reading Simon vs. the Homo sapiens agenda was first of all because I got it for my birthday back in October (ahem), and secondly because I had to check out the hype!

Simon vs. the Homo sapiens agenda is a story about Simon, a sixteen-year-old closeted gay who likes being a part of the theater group at school and writing emails with his closeted gay friend Blue who he’s kind of falling for and desperately wants to meet (he knows he goes to his school but not his real identity and vice versa). When one of their emails gets into the wrong hands he’s risking being outed as gay if he doesn’t do what the blackmailer demands.

Simon is the most likable guy ever and I personally would love to have a friend like him. Yes he’s in his own head sometimes because he’s dealing with stuff (which is understandable) but he’s also got self-insight about his shortcomings. He’s funny, smart, loving towards his friends and an interesting character all around.

In the book you meet the cynical best friend Leah, who’s kind of jealous of the new friend Abby, who Leah seems convinced want to be with Nick – the fourth and final member of the gang. You also get to meet the blackmailer, sweeter than one would think a blackmailer would be, and the mysterious Blue (all I can say is OH MY GOD!!).

This book gave me the cute and heartwarming feel from start to finish, and without actually reading it you can’t possibly know what I’m talking about. It was funny, quirky and all around adorable and very relatable to anyone who’s ever been a teenager!

Did you read it yet? If so, did you love it as much as I did? If you didn’t read it yet, are you planning to? Also, I can’t wait to read “Leah on the offbeat”. Let’s chat in the comments!

I’m also on Instagram if you want to keep up with my reading and blog post updates!
