The art of being normal by Lisa Williamson

I gave this book five stars on the account that it made me ugly cry and absolutely broke my heart!!

The book is about two different people; David who feels like he was born in the wrong body but doesn’t know how to tell his parents, and Leo who wants to be invisible and finish school without any more trouble. But when two worlds collide it becomes hard for Leo to cruise by under the radar.

David has always felt like he is in the wrong body. He wrote a note in class saying he wanted to be a girl when he grew up. Williamson absolutely had me from the start and the first page gave me chills. David doesn’t know how to tell his parents, but he’s lucky to have two great friends who know everything! David actually reminded me of Simon in Simon vs the Homo sapiens agenda, only he seemed like he had a little more of a bubbly personality.

Leo is the new mysterious boy who everyone thinks is bad news, and who’s entry makes the rumors flurry! He lives in the bad part of town and doesn’t have the greatest family life. His dad isn’t around, his mom is either working or down at the pub finding a new guy, and his twin sister Amber is always at her boyfriends house. The only one always at the house seems to be his little sister Tia.

I absolutely fell in love with the characters in this one. And I don’t know if it’s just me, but two of the scenes had me really crying because it got me mad that people can be so awful to other people (if you’ve read it I reckon you’ll know what I’m talking about). Other than that the book was set in England, so reading it whilst in London turned out to be perfect ๐Ÿ‘Œ๐Ÿป

My rating: *****

This gave me all the feels, and what else do we need??

Sorry for the late upload guys! I’be been working a lot since I came back from London so I had no time actually writing any reviews or blog posts. But as you see, I finally got some down time to write it!!

So, you know what I’m about to ask you.. have you read it yet? And if so, did you like it? Tell me about your summer plans or where you’ve been (if you’re early this year like me)!! The rest of my summer will probably be reading at my cabin and working๐Ÿ˜Š

I’m also on Instagram if you want to keep up with my reading, everything book related really, and my blog post updates!
